Vote Yes on A to Maintain Safe and Modern Facilities at Tamalpais, Redwood, Archie Williams, San Andreas, and Tamiscal High Schools.

Our local high schools consistently win state and national awards, recognizing the high-quality education they provide for local students. However, classrooms, labs, facilities, and school technology were built for a different era of learning and are undersized and out-of-date.

Redwood and Archie Williams are over 60 years old, and Tam High is over 100 years old.

The last significant upgrades to our schools occurred almost 20 years ago. Because the state does not provide funding for facilities, local schools cannot rebuild and update classrooms and labs to support quality education without local funding.

The Tam District engaged in an extensive multi-year facility needs process and gathered input from approximately 775 community members to develop a facilities master plan. This process identified necessary upgrades and repairs to ensure that our students have safe, modern, and up-to-date schools in which to learn and thrive. If Measure A passes, bond funds will be used to finance the most urgent upgrades and repairs, as identified in the master plan, at all five Tam District school sites.

Voting Yes on A means our local high schools can continue to provide our students with the necessary educational opportunities to be successful in college and prepared for 21st-century careers. Our aging and out-of-date facilities impact teaching and learning. Passing Measure A will ensure that our local students have access to the same state-of-the-art educational facilities as surrounding Marin County school districts.

Voting Yes on A Will Provide the Funding to:

Repair and replace leaking roofs and inefficient heating, cooling, electrical and plumbing systems

Rebuild and upgrade math, art, and music classrooms and science labs

Update classroom technology and equipment

Repair and replace security, fire, lighting, and other safety system

Improve disability access

Repair and replace outdated portable classrooms

Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability

  • All Measure A funds are locally controlled and cannot be taken by the state

  • Citizens’ oversight and annual audits ensure all funds are spent as promised

  • No funds can be spent on administrators’ salaries or operating expenses

  • The District delivered on its last bond promises on time and on budget while refinancing to save taxpayers almost $30 million dollars

Whether or not you have school-age children, supporting quality schools is a wise investment. Excellent schools improve the quality of life in our community and protect the value of our homes. Measure A will provide $517 million for necessary repairs and improvements and will only cost the typical homeowner $300 per year. Our schools are a valuable resource, and the new facilities will be available to every member of the community for after-school use.
